The University of Otago has been entering teams in the ACM Regional Programming Contest since 1989 when team New Zealand! blazed a trail coming 10th in the ACM Finals. In 1990 Terminally Nocturnal shocked the ACM and many major league universities by being the first non-U.S. team to win. Since then however success has been patchy. In 1992 the 1992/93 Team came a very respectable 5th and in 1994 the Dream Team just missed out and came second.
