ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR GEORGE BENWELL Academic Director of Research, Research and International Office and Department of Information Science, University of Otago Walking the streets of Roma and wandering the corridors of the UN FAO Abstract: George Benwell has spent five months at the head office of the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in Rome, Italy. During that time he was attached to the land tenure service and worked on technical cooperative programs in Slovenia, Namibia and Lesotho as well as on general issues related to land tenure and land taxation. He has continued with his research on cultural issues in land tenure and the national integration of information systems. Apart from the difficult technical tasks he has walked the streets of Rome, driven the countryside and discovered history, pasta and the Italian language. He has learnt to cook (some things) too.
