First, discussion of data resulting from a survey of 1998 Comp101 Students. This data highlights the typical student profile, and indicates perceived levels of previous computing experience in the main practical teaching elements of the 100-level course. Second, the presentation will list, describe, and in some cases demonstrate, some the initiatives implemented as part of the PC laboratory class. The aim of these initiatives are to facilitate student learning, and assist in large class administration. There will be some reflection on the success or otherwise of each initiative, and discussion on areas for future development. Where: Castle C When: 1.00 pm, Friday 3 April 1998
