Dr Robert McNeill, visitor to Information Science Title: Multimedia in the UK; Methodologies and Products Abstract: Bob will talk about large-scale multimedia development at the BBC in England. The products considered are educational and distance-learning applications for the Open University. Bob will describe working practices and product specifications and discuss how the one influenced the other during the development process. About Bob: Bob is of Irish Scots origin and studied Chemistry and Information Technology in Glasgow. He has taught extensively in both subjects in Scotland. He moved two years ago to England, where he worked as a multimedia designer for one year each at the Open University and BBC OU Production Centre. His role involved developing product ideas and acting as lead programmer for large high-functionality products.
