Dr Pat Riddle Computer Science Department, Auckland University From Missionaries To Cannibals and Back Again In this talk I show the progression of my work since my thesis work on problem reformulation under Dr. Saul Amarel at Rutgers University. I cover my work on Applied Machine Learning at the Boeing Company. This highlights the real challenges that the machine learning community has to overcome for its techniques to be used in the real world. I conclude with a description of the work I have started in the last year at the University of Auckland. This includes work on optimizing clinical drug trial designs, developing tools for data engineering, and exploring better ways of evaluating machine learning results.
