"Agent-Oriented Software Engineering"

Agent-oriented software engineering is a promising new
approach to software engineering that uses the notion of an
intelligent agent as the primary modelling abstraction, both
for design and implementation. The notion of an intelligent
software agent has emerged from research within the
artificial intelligence community---agent-oriented software
engineering seeks to transfer the use of software agent
technology from research laboratories to common industrial
practice. This talk will outline the debate about what
constitutes an agent, discuss why some researchers believe
agent-oriented software engineering to be a useful advance
in software engineering and outline current research efforts
in this field.
