Title:

Programming for Demonstrations, Prototypes, and Products

Location:

Archway 2 - 1:00 pm, Friday 9 September

Abstract:

Writing computer programs as a freelancer can be an interesting and enjoyable task. Depending on the client and the current project a piece of software may be intended for a technology demonstration which is perhaps used only once or for a product eventually installed on thousands of computers. Every time the requirements, the approach, and the development process are different.

During the past ten years I worked as a freelance programmer for various clients and companies in Germany. This informal talk is about some of my experiences, which might be of interest to students in computer or information science.
