According to the International Telecommunications Union (the leading United Nations agency for information and communication technology) the number of mobile phone users worldwide is expected to reach 5 billion this year (about 75%). The tool is ubiquitous. How many users have considered the various vulnerabilities that all mobile phones are subject to? How many have considered ways to minimize their specific exposure as a result of using a mobile phone? The likely answer to these questions is not many. Most people consider the convenience to far outweigh any perceived risk. This presentation will identify and explain some of the principal vulnerabilities, discuss potential threats, and offer some measures that can reduce a user's exposure.
