I completed my BA in Philosophy at Otago in 1992 and my PGDip in Philosophy (dissertation "A Causal Theory of Knowledge") the following year. I have had a varied work background including time as a Public House manager and a motorcycle courier in London; delivery driver and cook in Sydney and Sales Representative in New Zealand. After finishing my degree I worked part time for Otago Polytechnic teaching computing and almost full time as a demonstrator for COMP 101 and COMP 103 in the Computer Science Department. I was then fortunate enough to secure the position of Laboratory Administrator for COMP101, COMP103 and COMP201 which lead onto my becoming Lab Administrator/Tutor for COMP201 where my task is to 'ensure the smooth running of the COMP201 laboratories and tutorials and be responsible for the collection, production and dissemination of information required in and from the laboratory'. I see my task as 'making it possible for and encouraging students to achieve as much of their potential as they wish to.

My interests include first person computer games like Doom, Duke3D (The Grey Ghost is a fearsome hunter) and driving sims especially F1GP2 (The Grey Ghost is also a fearsome driver). Currently I am attempting to learn to play the guitar, a slow process, neither BB King nor Clapton need worry at this stage. I am also renovating my house, a process which if anything is slower than my progress at guitar playing.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in one pretty and well preserved piece, but to skid broadside, thoroughly used up, worn out, shouting GERONIMO!"
