One Dimension

Filtered noise has many applications. In one dimension it can be used to create motion. In this movie, the water plants are gently moving in the river current. The position of each plant is described by a bend-angle. This angle is varied by a value of filtered noise which is a function of time. The result is a pleasing swaying motion that is never quite regular but always about the right speed.
