Notes for Presenters

Each presentation room has a video projector, along with a Mac (running OS-X) and a PC (running Windows). Both computers have Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat. The USB ports are easily accessible. These computers are connected to the campus network if you need to access the Internet.

It is recommended you bring your talk slides on a USB flash memory device. This is quicker and easier than everyone using their own laptop.

If you need special software, please bring your laptop which can be connected to the video projector. However, your laptop may not have Internet access.

In addition, each room has an A4 size overhead projector and a VHS/DVD player.

Each room is assigned a student helper who knows how to operate the equipment. Please let them operate the controls on the podium.

For the paper presentation sessions, the presenter of the paper will have 30 minutes, which includes presentation time (about 25-minutes) and the time for questions and answers (about 5 minutes). Please arrive in your presentation room 10-15 minutes in advance, to familiarize yourself with the room and the set-up, and to test your slides. Please introduce yourself to the session chair and hand in a note with a brief introduction of yourself to her/him to use in introducing your talk.
