The Robot! The big Robot (as yet unnamed) is shown above in an early stage of construction. It began as a project of Allan Hayes and Dave Robertson , later joined by Malcolm Mills. Anthony Robins acquired further funding for the robot, and hopes to see it used as a teaching tool within the department, particularly for Artificial Intelligence (Cosc323) and project work (Cosc490). This robot will be fully independent and mobile with an on board processor, initially a Pentium 166 running QNX (a real-time operating system). It will have a vision system based on two colour video cameras and a frame grabber.
