I completed my BSc in electrical engineering in 1971 at the University of Houston and began working for Schlumberger, a multi-national company in the business of evaluating oil and gas wells using sophisticated electronic equipment. During my career, I have worked in a variety of engineering assignments, managed the computer aided design systems, and was a database administrator for product information systems. While working, I completed my MSc in computer science in 1990 at the University of Houston. I joined the Department of Computer Science at Otago as a lecturer in 1995 and completed a PhD in 2003. My current research is focused on cluster computing, distributed computing, networks, and operating system.
