There are thousands of jobs available in the IT industry. There is enormous variety - some jobs involve a great deal of interaction with other people, others involve working mainly on your own; some jobs involve creativity and problem-solving, other jobs are more routine.

Computer graduates earn high salaries. For some information about salaries for those with a BSc degree in the computing area, see the Payscale site for New Zealand, which gives the average salaries for Software developers, Software Engineers, Web Developers and Programmers.

The site Seek.co.nz, one of the main job search sites, lists current vacancies by type, and there are always more Information and Communication Technology jobs listed than any other category. You can get an idea of the range of jobs available in the industry and the salaries offered here.  Trademe also has a useful salary guide.
