International Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques in Australasia and Southeast Asia
29 November - 2 December 2005   ·   Dunedin, New Zealand

  Demonstration Sessions

Demonstration sessions will be held near the St David Entrance of the St David Complex. Times are approximate.

Demonstration Timetable - Wednesday 30 November

10:15am - 11:00am Carbon (Savant Information Systems)
Carbon is an advanced game engine and technology suite engineered by Savant Information Systems.
11:00am - 11:45am HIT Lab
Mobile Augmented Reality Augmented Reality (AR) technology allows the overlay of virtual graphics on the real world. Traditionally AR applications have been run from high end desktop and laptop computers. However the current generation of mobile phones have a video camera and enough processing power to also run AR applications. In this demonstration we show several AR applications running on consumer cell phones including the first collaborative AR game developed for the mobile phone.
12:30pm - 1:30pm Hash Inc.
One hour demonstration by Martin Hash (PhD).
Animation:Master is a powerful 3D character animation application that combines very powerful tools with an intuitive and easy to use interface. Much of its power derives from its unique spline-mesh modeling paradigm used in concert with it re-usable motion tools. Dr. Hash will discuss the advantages of this technology, and how it can be applied to high quality realtime 3D animation over the Internet.
1:30pm - 2:15pm Media Design School
Creative Careers The new model of immersive, project-based learning is essential to developing New Zealand's highly successful, creative technologies industry. Find out how Auckland's Media Design School contributes to this exciting, global industry and view work produced by up and coming kiwi animators, visual effects artists, game developers and digital media specialists.
2:15pm - 3:00pm Information Science, University of Otago
3D-COMM Combining 3D teleconferencing with table-top interfaces. A joint initiative between Information Science, University of Otago, Dunedin / NZ and Media Technology and Design, Upper Austria University, Hagenberg / Austria.
3:00pm - 3:45pm Straylight Studios
Technical Artist Brandel Zachernuk shows off some of our more interesting projects over the last year, including a game-style online fashion store, and the prototype for our PSP action-adventure game.
