Q: Where's Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, etc?

A: Those products are NOT included in the MSDNAA program.
(They are NOT development applications).
The Department provides alternatives for you to use in the labs - you could ask a Teaching Fellow or a Demonstrator what is available, or e-mail cshelp. If you need software you can use on your own computer, get yourself a copy of OpenOffice (OpenSource, Free-for-all) or StarOffice (Free for Academic users). The only real cost with {Star, Open}Office is that it is slower than the MS Office Suite apps.

Q: Why aren't all the products available for the MSDNAA available on our ELMS server?

A: There are currently over 500 individual product line items available through the MSDNAA. As we are locally hosting the most likely software people will need, we have set those up first. We will continually add titles as we see a need for them. If there are any titles you feel that we really should be hosting, you can e-mail the CS MSDNAA Site Admin with a request that local hosting of that image be considered.

Q: I have been given a CD for Windows XP by someone. When I tried to use the registration key I got from ELMS, it wouldn't work. What gives?

A: The Registration keys you get for MSDNAA products at the ELMS site work only with the MSDNAA distribution kits you get from the ELMS site. (there may be some kits that work either way, but you are on your own if you want to go down that dark alley).

Please download the MSDNAA kit from the ELMS site to use with the registration key you get from the ELMS site.

Q: I lost / forgot to print out my registration key when i selected my software. How can I get it back?

A: Please read everything that is presented to you in your download transactions. One of the first things that pops up when you order the software is a receipt with the registration key(s) on it. You should print this or save it to a file, or write it on a piece of paper for transferring to a secure place later.
If you fail to do so, you can still retrieve it by click the "MY PROFILE" button on the left side of the ELMS screen, then select the "My Software" option. Click on the right column for anything you downloaded and the receipt screen for that product will be presented to you.
