COSC470: Special Topic - Game Mechanics


Semester 2

This paper will examine designing and balancing game mechanics. Students will develop a number of game prototypes based on challenges and/or design constraints. Prototypes will be developed for iOS platforms using XCode, C++, OpenGL and Cocos2d to enable rapid prototyping.

Topics covered will include:

  • interface design
  • control schemes
  • game mechanics
  • game balancing
  • rapid prototyping
